CPU Longevity ??

I bought a used i5-4690k, so I'm not sure how much use it had before. I'm wondering about how long it will last; particularly in regards to being at stock vs. overclocked vs underclocked temps.

Load temps:

~50C underclocked
~60C stock
~70C overclocked

Just a rounded out number for each, is there a temp range for optimum longevity? Does overclocking it to where it runs around 70C for an hour or two a day run down its lifespan?

I run my CPU almost 24/7. At nite and while im away at work it runs folding at home, which stresses it some and heats things up some. Temps are right in the range you listed.

CPU is 6yrs old and shows no signs of stopping. So unless the prev owner of your cpu abused it badly -- it has a lot of life left.

Indeed. CPUs are surprisingly relilient, and tend to last a very long time. I've still got an Athlon 64 x2 from 2005 that runs like a dream. The previous owner would pretty much have had to have been purposefully trying to kill it for it to fail before the rest of your rig was obsolete.
