I'm currently running on a system with an HDD with all of my games installed on it, and an SSD with only my operating system on it. What should I have my virtual memory set to on both of them? I'm running 16gb of Kingston HyperX ram. This computer is also for gaming if that helps, thanks in advance.

Solution

I have 16GB RAM
SSD for the OS and applications.

Have had the pagefile set to 1GB min/max for 4+ years.
Pagefile on the SSD only. None of the other drives.
No performance issues at all.

I have a Sumsung Evo 850 SSD 250GB with OS Optimization set to "Maximum Performance". With this setting it sets Virtual Memory to System Managed Size and Paging File Size to Min:16MB and Currently Allocated to 8153MB with a Recommended 12229MB. Are these settings getting me the best performance for my RAM and SSD?

I read the posts and I should do the 1G/1G for VM?

How much RAM do you have?
If 8GB or more, that 1GB min/max is just fine.
If less than 8GB, leave it at System Managed.

Im about to have 16GB of RAM but currently have 8GB. So for the 16GB what should I do? Maybe I could do 4GB min/max for VM? Ive been having issues with 1 of my games maxing out the 8GB of RAM I have so Im trying to solve that. Thanx for replying!

As said way above....16GB RAM you can easily just leave it at 1GB min/max.
I've had my system set that way for years.
