I have just built this computer on Monday, and it boots like a dream when the BIOS is set to AHCI.
I bought four 4tb HDDs with the intention of using hardware RAID 5 on them but as soon as I switch the BIOS to RAID and create the RAID disc in the manager windows can no longer find my SSD.

This is my first time ever trying to RAID so any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks!

No, remove everything but the SSD, make sure RAID is enabled in the bios, and install. Then set up the hdds in raid. It's quite a bit easier that way since you will know the SSD is properly configured
