Graphics card crashes on launching any game, unless i set it back to factory settings every startup!

Hello!

I have MSI R9 270X - 2G DDR5. It crashes every time i launch a game, unless is go to radeon settings, and set the card back to default factory settings. If i do, it works perfectly, but i need to do this every time i turn on the computer.

Specs:
Asus m5a97 evo r2.0 Motherboard,
AMD FX-6300 CPU
8 GB Kingston DDR3 RAM,
1 HDD
1 SSD
PSU: Cooler Master something something 500W.

Can anyone help, or have you experienced similar issues?

go into radeon settings

gaming > global settings > global overdrive >

set gpu clock to 0% ( no overclock )

also make sure you have power limit set to 0% ( or up a bit, try 10% )

make sure your memory is set to its proper speed


save and exit

Same here, very small overclock, BF1, NSF 2016, Mirror's Edge crash until I take it back to stock speed, what games are crashing? Looks like mine are all from origin, CSGO, Witcher 3 and other games are totally fine, but everything that comes from origin immediate crash

Oh, ok, thanks, i will try this as i get home. So this worked for you? You had the same issue?

i have a 290x, so i am familiar with the radeon settings



I figured you had it overclocked by mistake, the above will set it to factory settings by default

yes, if your power supply/card cant handle it


if its not a V series, cooler master psu's are pretty terrible

Yes, MSI overclocking is causing it, you can also try not completely disabling it, but just reduce amount of overclock, i.e. 100mhz from both settings and try launching your games, that how I found the sweet spot and still gained about 30fps over the stock
