I can't seem to find a definitive answer to that question. Most people say you can keep the non-short-stroked partition active, as a primary partition for your storage and that it won't affect your short-stroked partition.

But won't the head every now and then look for stuff on the storage partition?

Thx in advanced!

PS: Pls don't tell me to buy an SSD instead, I'll get one when I'm able to.

Solution
It depends on what you put on each partition. It will only look for data on your 'non-short-stroked' partition if that's where the needed data is located. If you have your OS and most-used programs on a partition at the front of the drive, that's where most of the disk activity will take place.
