Hello,

I just bought and installed my new Intel Core i5-4670K but the thing is running at 100 degrees celsius under load and 60/80 at idle. (not overclocked)

Things i tried:
- Added new arctic silver thermal paste
- Bought a new fan Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo
- dellided / lapped cpu

But all the above things didn't bring the temperature down. I'm using SPECCY/Afterburner to monitor the temperature of my processor.

Never had this issue before with my i3 in the same case.

I don't feel hot air close to the cpu

I'm almost thinking the temps in speccy/afterburner are wrong?

Sorry for my bad English i'm Dutch..

Thanks in advance!

Solution
Check in your UEFI BIOS for the temperature. This will give you the most accurate reading possible for the idle temperature.
In Windows to monitor the temperature on my computers I use the program CoreTemp. http://www.alcpu.com/CoreTemp/

Estimable

It could be wrong,

There are other softwares to measure the temperature.

Let me Recommend CPUID HWMonitor, this is quite accurate and widely popular.

You could always check the CPU temperature in BIOS, if yours displays it, and that is probably a good way of guessing before any CPU Controlling occurs.

Try this, and compare the results. best to be sure before finding ways to fix it. :)

That looks like a broken temperature sensor on the mobo, or at least a very weird bios problem... 8 degrees and 102 degrees on the same chip doesn't make any sense at all. Try to update the bios, and see if it helps. Otherwise get a new mobo if you plan to overclock.

Thanks for the help.

Sucks that my mobo's temperature sensor is broken... :S

It worked fine with my i3...

I just realised that the screenshot you took is not from the CPU temps... I'm not sure what the temps in screenshot is from, but if you scroll down just a bit, it should show the CPU-temps. Do they also show weird temps?
