It crashes (no bsod) and sometimes it starts back up just fine, then it's fine for a few hours/days then crashes again. Other times it will reset, then turn on for 2 seconds and turn back off repeatedly. If I remove the gpu, turn it on, then off, then on - it works for hours/days. Something similar was happening before I got my gtx 960 and it worked fine for about 5 months, then almost a week after a gpu driver update it's been doing this.

I have tried new/old drivers, windows 7 and 10. Updated bios. changed video card and ram. Went to bios, psu reporting acceptable number variance of watts. Moved GPU to another slot.

I'm guessing most people will say it's a psu issue, but I don't have one to swap or the money to buy a new one. Any other ideas would be great. Thanks.

ram-2x8gb (same problem when I had 4x1gb)
gpu-gtx 260 (also tried a gtx 960)

Solution
Definitely sounds like a bad PSU, time to get a new power supply. Your computer is useless without one so it's not really an optional purchase. If anything go sell your old card to afford a new PSU.

Since you are on a budget, get the Seasonic S12II 520W, it's currently just $55
