After installing new HDD, PC takes an extremely long time to shutdown.

I recently purchased an installed a new 1TB Western Digital Blue into my PC. Everything there seems to be working fine.
But for some reason, now my PC takes a very long time to shutdown and the HDD load light stays lit almost continuously and the PC will take upwards of 15 minutes to shut down (after it reaches that point I force it off).
PC starts with no issue and shuts down at the login screen just fine.
Shutting down from normal use on the desktop takes a long time (although I still haven't tried logging out and from a normal session and shutting down from there)
People have said it could be a program causing issues, but I'm posting here currently because it started right after I installed this new drive and I'm curious if that is an issue first.

Any help is appreciated.
Thanks ahead of time!

Hey there, @Randall1160!

I'd recommend you check how the system will boot up and shut down with the WD Blue unplugged from the system. Do you notice any difference? If you do, I'd advise you to swap the SATA cable and the port where the secondary WD HDD is connected. It might also be a good idea to run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics tool. It will help us determine the health and SMART stats of the hard drive.

Keep us posted with the troubleshooting & Good luck!

I'm going to assume Windows 10, which uses fast boot (the other half of that being hibernate instead of shut down), so i would say open the Hibernate settings, and disable that new drive from the list of Hibernate options.

The drive in question is an additional storage drive and only has 1 program installed on it as of right now.
My boot drive is an SSD.
