Hi,

I was just looking to get thoughts from people on the below.

I am looking to upgrade my graphics card to a GTX 1070 Gigabyte G1. My current specs are:

CPU: Intel i7 2600K @3.4GHz
Motherboard: Asrock Z68 Extreme3 Gen3
Ram: DDR3 12GB 1333MHz (2x4GB, 2x2GB sticks)
GPU: Palit GTX 590 3GB
HDD: WD caviar blue 1TB
PSU: Hytec 1050W

Would any of my components bottleneck the GTX 1070 if i was to purchase it?

Thanks.

Solution
well you would have to overclock that CPU. get it to around 4.2 or so, but with that chip and board that should be easy with a good air cooler or water cooler.
other than that that would be a great boost in games.

Thanks for the reply :).

How much difference do you think id get in performance if i was to leave this rig compared to if i upgraded to a z170/6700k combo with 16GB of ddr4 ram? 15-20%?

if you get that chip up to 4.2 GHz, the difference would be very hard to notice. around 10% at most, and gaming would probably not show it. at current stock speeds I would agree with the 15-20% window perhaps closer to 20%. the RAM will not really make much of a difference.

Awesome mate thanks so much for the replies...you may have just convinced me to keep my current rig and purchase the 1070 unless i hear other opinions to convince me otherwise :) haha
