hello world, I'm recently starting a new build. it's my first time building a computer and I'm also new around the forums. so redirect me if needed. my mid budget build
•fx 8350
•sabertooth 990 fx
•evega 970 ftw
•16 gb hyperx fury
•corsair hydro 100i gtx
•samsung evo 250 gb
•wd black 1tb
•corsair vengeance c70 case
I'l probably be doing some slight overclocking, mostly for gaming. I'l most likely get another 970 ftw gpu. my question is what power supply would be best under $175? I'm using a corsair case so I feel I should stick to a corsair psu, but I'm having a bit of trouble convincing myself I need an axi series. iv heard alot of negative things about the rm series but they are well priced (though not far off)

Solution
Well I recommend the newer Corsair RMx series for you then. The 550, 650, and 750w models are all priced similarly.

Do not bother with a second 970. Your FX would bottleneck it too much.

Welcome to the forums!!

If it's not too late, I'm gonna start by telling you NOT to bother with the 4 year old FX8350 as it would be terrible for your budget if this is going to be a mostly gaming build. You could have a MUCH better build for much cheaper by going with a simple locked Intel i5.

Do you have any parts yet?

Seriously the FX8350 gets beat by the i3 6100 in almost every game.

The GTX1060 or RX480 would also be a much better buy than a 970 right now unless you're getting an excellent deal ($200ish) for the 970, and I never recommend bothering with SLI.

Sorry I realize I have not answered your original question. I just hate to see people wasting money. Your budget is obviously high enough to have an extremely nice system, but the parts listed above are just a terrible use of your money.

unfortunately I have everything but my psu and hdd, I realized a little while back, the mishap about the 8350. but ive moved on from there and will eventually upgrade to some z170 i76700 combo, but regardless I'm stuck with this hot, power drawing mother. any advice on how to power it
