So my hdd started acting weird some time ago...Launching simple programs would take extremely long for example OBS Studio took like 1min to launch.

I formatted the drive yesterday and started installing games during night, in the morning i noticed that write speed was very low.

As you can see, while installing PAYDAY 2, the write speed was very unstable even tho internet was working fine so there were files to write. It some times went 0kb/s.

Is it normal? or is the drive broken? Drive is almost 2 years old.

Hey there, @grendes!

I'd strongly recommend you backup all your data from the hard drive somewhere off-site before proceeding with the troubleshooting. Afterwards, follow @R_1's advise and use WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows to check the health and SMART stats of the WD HDD. Just make sure you run both the QUICK and the EXTENDED tests.
You should also consider checking the Task Manager and Resource monitor to see what might be causing these spikes. If it's indeed a software, I'd advise you to re-install it and see if the issue will persist.
If the HDD usage doesn't improve and the system is still performing poorly, you should also try using a different SATA cable and a different port on the motherboard to...

Keep us posted with the troubleshooting!

No, didn't want to reload 300GB of games second time and because i did test the drive 2 weeks ago before posting here. I used HD Tune.

Redownload** that was a typo, but because @SuperSoph_WD said that I should backup my data I thought that there is possibility to lose or corrupt data.

I did the fast test and long test using WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics and it passed both. The long test took 2,5h.

As I said earlier it's working again. There is no need to run memtest, but thanks for the help!
