I have an
Advent Desktop PC (Model No. DT2204)
Intel Pentium G630 2.7 GHz
Dual Core CPU
6GB Ram
Intel HD Integrated Graphics
at most 5 years old.

Can I either replace my Graphics card altogether or add another graphics card?
I'm not a big PC gamer but I do play the odd one unfortunately my current graphics card just isn't compatible with the newer games .

I am thinking about purchasing
(NVIDIA): GeForce 8800 GT as this is minimum requirement for the games I want. (I don't mind roughish graphics as long as the game itself is good)
if anyone can recommend a better one for someone on a tight budget, that would be great

I understand how to actually install it.

Is the only way of telling is to take the panel off first I will be doing this today to check I know I need to check the amount of power going into the pc first.

Solution
Hi,

Prebuilt computers usually have terrible power supplies in them (less than 300w)

You won't be able to power a graphics card with that.

Open the case up and let us know which PSU you have.

When replacing parts with a PC that old, you are bound to run into more than one or two compatibility issues. For instance, most GPU's today are quite a bit bulkier and will take a lot more effort to fit into older builds especially if it was a prebuilt PC. If you are going to upgrade the GPU, you might have to upgrade Motherboard which may lead to the CPU. It is like the domino effect.
