i have a ddr3 board and ddr3 memory but i needed to force it in to get the memory in the slot

It happens, some slots are tighter than others. Back with the P67 mobos after the recall on the SATA ports MSI released a ton of boards with extremely overy tight memory slots that didn't really allow DRAM to fully seat and everybody was having non-stop boot loops
