Hey gents!

Curious to as to the collective opinion re: whether to buy a new rig now (probably from Digital Storm, as I've loved doing business with them in the past), or wait until early Q1 '17 for the Kaby lake desktop variants. I've built in the past, but like the boutique vendor experience and the more aggressive overclocks professionals have achieved in my past experience.

As a longtime PC gamer, there's always the balance of "well, if I wait a little longer..." vs. the instant gratification of buying/upgrading in the nearer future. I've found that if keep reading about what's coming out next, I'll never pull the trigger.

Current specs: i7 2600k, 8gb ram, Asus Sabertooth p67, WD blue 1tb, Asus GTX 970. Gaming at @1080p, but would like to (though it is not mandatory) buy a 3440 x 1440 ultrawide display with my next rig. My current display is a VA panel from '11, so...she's been around for a bit, albeit faithfully. Of course, more than doubling the pixel count from a 1080p display requires more horsepower, but that would be a luxury and not a requisite.

Budget is about $2,500 for the new rig.

So what do you fellas think--wait until early next year for Kaby Lake, or buy something now in the i7 6700k with a somewhat aggressive overlock for an ultrawide display?

Thank you kindly in advance, my good sirs.

P.S. if you recommend I also post this on another forum, let me know!

Kaby Lake promises to be the dullest release in years. It will feel more like Skylake Refresh. Zen, probably also launching at the same time- certianlt Q1 2017, looks to significantly alter the high end and gaming market. That's what to wait for. Honestly, if you have $2500 to blow, I might wait seeing as your current rig is more than capable of 1080p.
