ok here is my problem.l.I recently started playing world of warcraft again on my PC that is wired to the router...my kids watch youtube/netflix/whatever on an ipad and a wii u on the wireless. I noticed taht when they are watching my game lags out like crazy, i have played games forever and I have never noticed this problem until i statred playing WoW again. So i am new to dual band routers my old router that i had forever was a simple netgear but only had the one channel. So i purchased the netgear R7000 ac1900 nighthawk router because i thought i could fix the problem with a dual band(i don't know very much about routers) and control the bandwidth the mobile devices use. So i went the the QoS page on my router setup and set all of the mobile devices to low priority and set my PC on highest. My first question do these QoS settings only affect wireless connections? Since my pc is wired does QoS still give me top bandwidth? And doesn't gaming use upload speeds anyway so how will minimizing their streaming bandwidth even matter? After I set the mobile devices to low it seems the kids are now fighting over the badwidth one of them can watch videos flawlessly(on an Ipad) and the other keeps getting buffering issues(on a wii u). While this is happening my game is still laggy so I don't know what is going on. My internet speed should be more than enough to handle 2 people streaming and me gaming I get about 30-50 Mbps down and 7 Mbps up. am i doing something wrong? Is there a better solution for this problem? Please let me know if anyone has any info.
thnx
