New Computer, Low FPS, disk usage at 90-100% when gaming

Hello Everyone,

I am pretty new to the computer scene and I have just bought my first ever "gaming computer". My build includes:

AMD 8350 processor
gtx 1070 ftw GPU
970 msi motherboard
8 GB of RAM
No Soild state drive

I have been trying to figure out why I'm only getting 20-30 FPS on games such as Insurgency and Rising Storm. I feel like my build should be able to handle more, but for some reason it cannot. The game looks good, but runs so slow and choppy, and I notice disk usage is at 90-100% while gaming, and runs about 0-10% while doing other tasks. I just unboxed this machine on Tuesday (9/9/2016) so it has been a really frustating experience due to me being new to the scene, and my brand new computer not working as I'd hoped.

I'm hoping to get some feedback, and maybye a point in the right direction as to why this is happening. Is disk usage high because I don't have a solid state? Could it be an overheating problem, or simply a bad drive? Just seeing if this problem gives out any red flags as to what the culprit seems to be.

Thanks everyone,

Michael.

I didn't say it doesn't run with it. also I sent you a message of something that could help your game stutter. It's just that the 1070 becomes more of a "display" item. but that's as much as i will get into that.

since your roomate has same type of build. is the hard drive the only major difference? just a little bit of browsing concludes a need for an SSD. (above message stands strong, check for yourself)

first things.. first... that graphics card is wayyy too strong for your CPU. basically it's just not able to perform as it should. and Yes an SSD would make a huge difference OVERALL

Even something such as i5-6500 would be able to handle that card and you should see a dramatic change in performance (just a suggestion). FX8350 is yesterday's hero, not today's
