my laptop keyboard is broke i somehow turned off the ability to use usb keyboard which was working fine before

What model keyboard?
Do the USB connectors work with other devices? Have you tried it on the other USB connectors?
If it has drivers (such as Logitech for example), I would try reinstalling the driver set.
