I have a system based on the Asus X99-a USb 3.1 motherboard and have decided to upgrade the memory.

The exisitng memory is installed in DIMM B1 & DIMM D1 with the new sticks going in A1 & C1, the new memory is being read.

The new memory isn't being read by the BIOS or Windows 10 but is recognised by cup-z, I have updated the BIOS to the latest version. The new memory is HyperX FURY DDR4 which is the same as the exisiting memory.

I have removed the original memory and replaced it with the new sticks which do work, the problem happens when the 4 sticks are all in the PC at the same time.

This is how the new sticks are showing in the BIOS.

Solution
Mixing multiple kits is not guaranteed to work because the new sticks have never been tested with the old sticks. Based on your photos, I can see they have different part numbers and were manufactured February 2015 and June 2016. Based on your "do it yourself" compatibility testing, it looks as if the memory are incompatible with each other.

A work around for using multiple kits is to try to use a slower memory clock speed.

Thanks, will try that.

I have tried a couple of other things. I removed the CMOS battery to clear the BIOS. When I put the battery back in and rebooted all 4 memory slots showed in the BIOS.

After setting the date & time and rebooting the 2 new sticks disappeared again.
