I currently have a Sony Vaio running Windows Vista and sometimes it feels like I'm living in the Stone Ages.

I want a computer that's able to handle Steam and various games like Hacknet, Warframe, Oblivion, etc. as well as art programs such as Clip Studio Paint Pro.

I also want to be able to run the typical programs like Skype, Spotify, and Evernote without dealing with a slow computer.

So the question I pose is what kind of computer should I consider: Apple or a PC? And if you pick PC, then any specific recommendations that don't kill my bank account?

I live in the U.S. And my budget is complicated. My parents are offering to buy me a computer, and they're thinking Apple, but I've been using a PC for so long that I don't want to transition. So they're willing to pay for an Apple, but not necessarily a PC that's the same price as an Apple.

Best advise I can give you is to build your own computer. Buying those nationally known store purchased computers is nothing short of a rip-off of the consumer. HP and others place the cheapest hardware known to mankind into computers they sell for prices that do not nearly match what is inside them. Do some research on the insides of a PC. You will find that building your own will not only save you money in the long run, but provide a PC that you will be able to upgrade in the future. Be VERY LEARY of an HP Products my friend. Some are basically laptops tucked into desktop cases to fool a novice.
