Testing an i7 4790 (LGA1150) on a LGA1155 MB

At the risk of sounding stupid, is it physically feasible to test a suspected bad i7 4790 (no video) that is an 1150 socket cpu in an older 1155 socket MB? Thought I would try to save the $40 diag if I have to replace a $350 cpu.

Thanks for the reply, That's what I thought. Couldn't find a definitive answer on Google. Thought I would ask before I stripped my older rig. FYI- since I posted we put my sons MB back in to test and it booted up with video. Had the MB checked by Gigabyte and they said they found no issues. It's an electronic miracle.
