I tried to replace my 7870 xt with a new gigabyte windforce oc gtx 1070 today. I uninstalled all the amd drivers using ddu and turned the pc off. I just swapped the gpus, but when i turn the pc on everything looks normal except that a few seconds after I see the very first screen (Im using win 10 btw) I hear 1 fast beep. The screen stays frozen with the message of pressing esc for startup options (keyboard is non responsive). Then after 8 seconds I hear another fast beep followed by a third long beep. It is at this point that I turn off the pc manually by holding the reset button. I then tried to put back the 7870 xt and it starts booting up as normal.
It cant be the psu because the 7870 xt needs more than the 150w needed for the gtx 1070. Or maybe the gigabyte windforce OC gpu needs more power? My psu is a cx600m from corsair. I know its not gold certified but still should be enough to handle the gtx 1070.
Or maybe I just got a faulty card?

EDIT: Just checked the hp website (I have an hp mbo) and it says that the beeping code I get refers to a videocard unable to initialize or that a videocard is required.
Like I said, I dont know much about psus, but shouldnt a gtx 1070 have no problems if there werent any with a more power hungry radeon 7870 xt? The amd gpu needed 2 6 pin connections, while the gtx needs a single 8 pin one.

Bump.

After doing more research, a possible cause of the gpu not working may be because the gtx 1070 being a recent card doesnt support legacy Bios, only UEFI. My hp motherboard supports legacy bios, and I was recommended to get a bios update in order to get the gtx card detected. Problem there isnt any firmware/bios updates in the hp website for my specific pc and windows version (only 7 and 8).

Yes. I sent the gpu back to get a refund. lol

Yeah, the cause was the motherboard no supporting UEFI. I could have tried talking to HP directly, but since my warranty expired years ago they would charge me $59.99 for the inquiry. The cheapest I have right now, is to buy an ivy/sandy bridge motherboard ( like a b75 or h77 ) that is UEFI compatible. Only thing preventing me from doing that is that I will have to pay to get a windows 10 license key, and thats expensive.
