Adding more RAM

So i think it is far past time i get up to 16gb ram since i have 2 monitors and recently added a gtx 1080. But I would like to clarify something first. I heard stories where sometimes when people buy the exact same ram sticks to add more ram pc they still wont work together. this is what i currently have https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B006E065O0/ref=ox_sc_act_title_1?ie=UTF8&psc=1&smid=ATVPDKIKX0DER.

I built my pc almost 2 years ago now and im planning on ordering more of these exact RAM sticks. Do you think it will be ok to add more of the same sticks after having these for nearly 2 years? or should buy a 16gb kit? And if i can buy another 8gb kit to add on to my current rig will it be as simple as just putting them into the RAM slots and it will work with the older ones without a problem?

I could really use the extra 8 gigs because sometimes i run very close to the 8 i have now.

A non-low profile memory module will not disrupt any airflow that is noticeable into your cooler. So long as you have done the measurements and are confident the non-LP modules will not be in the way of your Hyper cooler being firmly secured to the CPU, you are good.

It's a risk to buy two more memory modules (kit or individual) to your current two sticks, even if they are the exact same model. The reasons are complex, but in layman's terms, it's due to the differences in silicon tolerances in a given manufacturing cycle.

This is why memory is sold in kit form (2x, 4x) to guarantee they will "play nice" together...they've been tested to work together at the factory. Also, using all four DIMM slots increases chances of memory errors, even if you don't overclock. I'm in the same boat with an 8GB (2x4GB kit) build, but have made the decision to sell my current RAM and just buy 2x8 GB sticks.

Well thats unfortunate i would really like it red since it will go with all my other components. Would it be ok to use non LP sticks? From looking at how the LP fits in, the top of a non LP will probably just be in front of my cpu cooler fan blocking a small bit at the bottom but its not up against the fan or anything (hyper 212 evo) will that be ok or is that a no-no. As long as i dont use all 4 ram slots it will fit since the slots it uses for the first ram sticks wont be underneath the cooler. (if i had 4 sticks i would need LP)

Maybe try something like HyperX Fury ram?

E: They're not very low profile but I don't think you'd have a problem.
