I built a new computer and it works, but whenever I start it up my HDD will work for some time, but it will stop working soon after and I can't use it. My computer will randomly start reading it for a couple of seconds before it stops at random times. I know it's not the SATA cable because I used them before and now and made sure they are not loose. I am still able to use my SSD. Please help.

Hi there Stephen_92,

So you have tried using both different SATA and power cables right? They could be faulty, not loose. Also, you need to use a different SATA port.

In case hte issue persists, then I would suggest you to back up the data stored on the drive. After that, you can test it and see if there is something wrong with it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Updating your MOBO's drivers will not hurt as well. :)

OKAY I had the same problem I reckon where my pc would start normally for sometime and then suddenly the monitor would just go off and my hdd would make clicking sounds. I thought that the life of the hdd is over but I formatted my C Drive completely using disk-part before it could boot and installed the OS again. Since then no problems.

It might also be possible that your operating system becomes corrupted and because of this, you are facing the issue. I suggest you do file system check, just run sfc/scannow, and it will fix the problem. Good Luck!!
