So I just bought 7 2tb hard drives for a home server. The problem is I don;t know how to hook them all up to one system they are (sata drives btw). I'm not looking to spend $1000 on a hardware but any thoughts or solutions would be great!

This is bordering on thread necro...1 month + a few days...but what the heck, I guess there's a slight chance this might help.

One option if you haven't found this already would be an 8 bay external enclosure. Here are two options both below $500 that would work just fine. The first only supports JBOD (just a bunch of disks) while the 2nd has full RAID support so the drive pools could be configured to be used as one large resource:

SANS DIGITAL TowerRAID TR8UM6G JBOD

Sans Digital 8-Bay USB 3.0 / eSATA Hardware RAID5 Tower Storage Enclosure
