I am doing an experiment with an old computer I have, and decided to seek online help before I try. I have an old firepro v8750. I did some research and it has a very similar part ID to the AMD 4800 series. - ATI FirePro V8750 (FireGL)" = ati2mtag_R7XGL, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9444 and ATI Radeon HD 4800 Series" = ati2mtag_R7X, PCI\VEN_1002&DEV_9440
Also, The v8750 is built upon the RV770 architecture of the HD 4870..
I was wondering is it possible to run both cards in crossfire, despite one being firepro and the other being Radeon. I looked up the HD 4870 and it physically looks identical to the v8750, besides the paint job.
I realize I could just buy a new card, but I am just learning and playing around. So i don't want to break the bank. 4800 series cards are under 30 dollars on eBay right now..
