Compaq Presario SR1315CL: Moved my original hdd to be a slave after installing another master. . Puter boots off the new drive but when I try to access the info off the old drive it gives me the "Compaq Recovery" warning. How can I access what was once drive C:?

Hi there bfman67,

You will need to recover your data and reformat (through Disk Management) the drive after that.
You can either attach the drive externally, retrieve the data and reformat or use some data recovery tool for DOS mode. You can give the Ubuntu Live CD approach a try. You will need a flash drive or a CD, which you can boot Ubuntu from: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode

Hope this will help,
D_Know_WD :)

Just wanted the forum know that I used a utility called Find and Mount to locate the missing partition and remount it. Worked like a charm. The only restriction on the freeware version is that it limits the data transfer rate to 512 KB/sec . If you have a large amount of data to recover you would probably want to spring for the paid version.

It's great you've sorted this out and came back to share how you've done that. :)
I believe it will not hurt to check the health status of your old drive. You can even test both of them. You can either use a brand specific or a third party testing tool, that can provide a SMART report.

Cheers,
