Possible ram bottleneck?

Hey, recently got a new rig (i3 6100, GTX 950) and long story short I got 8GB of g.skill ram and can only use one stick (4gb). I'm not getting quite the performance I expected and was wondering if 4gb of ram could be a bottleneck in games? I usually only have steam and discord running, no other programs open. Thanks in advance

Yes, most games want 8GB or more, also keep in mind with onlyy 4 the OS and other processes are using a fair amount of your 4GB leaving little for the game itself

Guessing you've tried in slots 1-3 or 2-4 -----if so, have you tried in 1-2 or 3-4 to see if you have a channel problems?

Yeah tried all that and memtest, called their support but it was a joke. Tried it on another PC and didn't work so I just quit.

In short yes. Most games require at least 8gb ram. Some now even require 16gb. If you want my suggestion, just return both sticks and get one 8gb stick.
