MSI 1060 crashing every game after installation

I installed a MSI gaming 1060 6gb and now most games either drop in frames and crash or crash in general and I can't find a solution so I'm asking here for help see if anyone can help me.

I would try to do a full driver sweep and reinstall GPU drivers if that don't help I would look into that PSU

Yeah I think its my PSU that's doing it, I did a rollback on the driver today but that didn't do anything.

Okay I reinstalled the drivers and everything still crashes and frames drop in said a game like Rust it goes to 90 then drops to 50 then back up or it fluxes between different frames which is why I think its my psu but I'm not the best or good at all with computers even my own.

Did your FPS drop that much with the other gpu ? maybe try the other GPU and see if it does the same thing . check to make sure you have enough volts on the 12v rails for your GPU

maybe teat it with a different PSU , if you have to buy one . make sure you have a 30 day return policy in case its not that

+Onepieceseaweed I had the exact same issue after installing my GTX 1060. I initially thought it was because I already had two 980 Ti's in the system and didn't reinstall the drivers.

My solution: I completely removed the drivers with DDU ( http://www.bleepingcomputer.com/download/display-driver-uninstaller/ ). Then I downloaded the latest drivers from Nvidia. By the way, when I ran DDU, I allowed it to remove the drivers from safe mode, then then system automatically restarted, and then I reinstalled the drivers.

None of that worked here's some pics of my 1060 compared to my r9 380, right now I'm using the r9 because the 1060 just crashes with everything a different color. Also the 1060 steeps down a bit so I prop it up.

Please take that PC off that comforter ASAP. Your power supply isn't getting ample airflow. The air intake is on the bottom of the case.

Something that is strange is that it works with your R9 380, but not your GTX 1060; the 380 has a higher power usage. These issues usually are related to heat, power, or software. Honestly I would agree with you that your power supply a good candidate for the cause of the problem except the 1060 has a lower power consumption.

Addendum: What do you mean by the 1060 steeps down? The weight of it is drooping the PCIe slot? If that's the true, could you place the computer case on it's side to test? Meaning, place the open computer case, so that the motherboard is facing the ceiling. I suggest leaving the case open, so that excess heat can escape, while we're testing.

Don't worry about the pc on the purple blanket I have it there to put stuff in and out of it, I have my pc on a tempered glass desk.

The 1060 it's not the PCIe port I don't think that's it but the PCIe blue cords I showed you the 1060 has 8 little slots for it but I only have 2 that are 6 plug ins and one that has two so I use one 6 plug in and the one with two if that makes any sense to you. And I will try to put the pc on it's side and see if that'll help.

Makes perfect sense, and that's what you're supposed to do. I just call it a 6+2-pin PCIe power connector. "This is because the power connectors have a removable pair of pins that converts an 8-pin PCIe connector into a 6-pin PCIe power connector."

Niklas_13 I put in the r9 380 and no frame drops but does run harder that's why I bought the 1060 I owuldnt know why the 1060 drops and the 380 doesn't.

Hello I installed the drivers for the 1060 got a new psu today so I installed that but haven't tested any games yet I will let you know what happens when I get time to test it out, just keeping you all updated. So I played Arma 3 and that doesn't crash anymore it seems like but the pc still crashes with multi colored lines down the screen in many games at this point I don't know what would fix it.
