Possible Drive Issues

I have a MSI 970 gaming mobo, Samsung SSD, and a WD Black 1TB HD. This all started with what I thought was just a faulty WD Black drive but recently I received a replacement warranty drive. The drive continued to disappear causing me to have to unplug and plug the drive back in. I have replaced the Sata cable, replaced the power cable, switched the Sata port on the motherboard, and updated my Mobo drivers. If I try to play Fallout 4 on my HD it freezes and eventually crashes, if I try to install another game on my drive it will tell me there is not enough disk space available even though there is 830 gigs of free space.

Well, I'd strongly recommend you give it a go on another system as well, once you have access to a second PC. Meanwhile, I'd recommend you check your BIOS version on the motherboard manufacturer's official website. If you don't have the latest one, try flashing BIOS and updating it.
Another thing that might be worth the try is resetting BIOS. This procedure will get the settings back to factory defaults, so you will need to re-configure any manual changes you have made in BIOS so far.

Let me know how the troubleshooting is going.

Hey there, @EnolaJ!

I'm truly sorry to hear about your unfortunate issues even with the replaced WD Black HDD. :( Kudos for the great job you have done so far with the troubleshooting. However, I'm not sure if you have tried plugging the WD Black in another PC altogether. If you have access to another computer, we can determine what is the root of your issues. I'd also suggest you backup the data from the drive as well and then attempt to run the QUICK and EXTENDED tests from the WD's Data LifeGuard Diagnostics for Windows. It will help us determine the health and SMART stats of the HDD.

Keep me posted with the results!

I have not tried another machine but I did try to reinstall my OS, it worked just like it should temporarily, but not even a day later the problem came back, I noticed it started after a windows update so I rolled back to a previous update and the problem is still present. Also the drive passes the Data Lifeguard SMART test.
