Hi all and thanks for reading :)

as first post here, I'm seeking some help in upgrading my rig, either with OC or replacing components.

this is my current spec:

case: CM 600 III
PSU: EVGA SuperNOVA 750 G2
CPU: i5 4590
MoBo: Z97 ANNIVERSARY ATX DDR3 SATA3 USB3.0 SKT 1150 HDMI
RAM: kingston hyperx savage 4gb x2
GPU: asus R9 290 DirectCU II (oc'd @ 1060 CC/1350 MC w/o modifying voltage)
Monitor: Samsung S24E370DL (for freesync)

I am thinking about upgrading something for smoother gaming experience. I guess a viable option could be swapping to a 1070 but i should switch to a higher res and gsync monitor too.
Other things I'd really use some advice are:

1) switching to a more powerful mobo/cpu combo could help me increasing fps substantially?
2) to further OC the GPU, i suppose i should start touching the core voltage, but I am not too much experienced in this. What room I still have for OC, considering I only have vents for heat control?

My budget is around 500$, but if I managed to squeeze the GPU a lil more I'd be happier.

any other tip/suggestion is very well accepted!

many thanks!

Solution
More, probably not.
Faster ram - in some cases yes. GTA V is a good example of ram speed sensitive game. but we are talking about few FPS :)
More ram is just for convenience. I hate to close things to open a game. Some people don't care.
Well ... your system will be very capable for few years after upgrading the GPU.
If you intend to keep playing at 1080p - GTX 1060 6BG
If you going 1440p or higher - GTX 1070
well, expanding ram to 16GB would be a nice touch to :)
So any of the GPUs + RAM upgrade will fit into the 500USD budget.
I wouldn't bother to further OC the R9 290 as the practical improvement will be very little. I actually killed my previous GTX 570 when was trying to push it beyond 950MHz on core (732 stock).

thanks for that! would you think extra ram could improve fps? I have not taken that in consideration, so i'm quite curious about that..
