Hey, im having real trouble trying to get my old 2.5" sata hdd to be accessible via USB on my new windows 10 laptop.
I connect and the device shows with all the partitions (about 5 of them) in my pc although they just have a letter no size or anything.
File Explorer also has a tendancy to run incredible slow when I plug it in. Any help would be greatly appreciated?

Hi there George_131,

The fact that your system slows down once the drive is plugged in, could indicate that it is failing.
My suggestion would be to try the drive on another computer or even attach it internally. In case the issue persists, I would advise you to use some data recovery tool for DOS mode, in case you have some data stored on it.
Check the Ubuntu Live CD approach out: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/267999-32-recover-data-mode
You need to boot from a CD or a flash drive and see if the drive would be accessible.

After that, you can test it and see what is wrong with it: http://www.tomshardware.co.uk/forum/282651-32-best-diagnostic-testing-utility

Hope this will help,
