Been wanting to build a site where people could do everything regarding custom PCs. Buying, building, selling, checking out news, etc.. I don't really see an active site out there that does all of these. Before I put too much time into this I would like to know if people would be interested in the idea and if they could see themselves using the site. Your feedback is very helpful, Thank you.

A lot of build advice happens here, and a lot of sales happen on various forums. There are a few other major sites that also have this sort of thing. Really, unless you target a niche, and pretty much all of those are taken (SilentPCreviews, for example) it probably isn't worth the time investment.

Everything in one website? No, not really.
It would be almost impossible to sell, and have unbiased parts list advice, from the same entity.

Here at Tom's (and other places) we can give (mostly) unbiased parts advice. Because the people responding get zero remuneration from it. Hundreds or thousands of peoples opinions, instead of one guy that needs to make payroll next month.
I say 'mostly', because there is always the Intel/AMD/Nvidia fanboy arguments.

But if we were also selling...I would gently nudge you into I need to move out of the inventory. It may or may not be the best part for you, but it helps my bottom line.

You see where the issue comes in? "Everything" pretty much can't work.

I appreciate the quick feedback and I get what you're saying. It is more of a hobby idea for me than a means to make money. I see a lot of sites that have these individual aspects but that isn't solely their main purpose. The idea is to have an amazon/ebay like site but just for the PC genre.

Someone who comes to me with no PC knowledge is not going to care what I am biased towards, not to say that I am because I have used and made builds with amd, intel, and nvidia before. I believe that they all have their pros and cons based on what a customer would be looking for. If someone came to me saying they want an AMD build then that is what I would make for them. If someone was uncertain of my recommendation they should be capable of doing their own research and coming back to me for further advice if needed.

In terms of PC parts, the customer is not always right.
If someone comes to you and wants an AMD FX-9590 (because his friend told him it was uber), but has to be in a little small case for the living room HTPC....that's not going to work.
If I were building and selling...there are then two choices.
Either I build it and sell it to his misguided thought process. And the user has a less than stellar experience (overheat, throttling, etc). Result, a pissed off customer.
Or, I simply direct him elsewhere. Result, a lost sale opportunity and no lunch for me.
