I was told that my hard drive has failed on my ASUS laptop that I purchased 2 years ago. I was also told that the hard drive is soldered in, and has to be sent to a service center for replacement and a rather large cost. But I see on forums and Youtube that the hard drive can be upgraded without soldering. Also, if the laptop is not working and I have no recovery disc, once I change the hard drive, will I just need a clean install to make the computer run again?
