Hey! I have ran into about $100 in funds lately. I have a i5-6600k at 4.3ghz 1.2v and a GTX 1060 ROG Strix in a Deepcool Tesseract SW case. I have two options:

1. Buy a 120mm AIO Kraken x31 or H80i GT to cool my CPU

2. Buy Windows 10. I am using it unlicensed atm.

Is it possible to wait another month to licence windows?

Never buy a software before hardware. But that's me, i'm not telling you to not go with confortable not modified windows, instead of going with an Open OS with modified core, while you get the money to buy it.
Never waste extra money on software; only if you need it.

An "Open OS with modified core" ?
Care to expound on that? Because I've never heard of anything like that associated with a legit Windows OS license.

Hardware before software?
In the OP's case, a 120mm Kraken is no better than a typical air cooler. IOW, a waste of money. The H80i is no better.

Buying a valid software license is not a 'waste of money', if you actually use that software. Like using the OS, which operates the whole system.

First, i'm not saying that that Water cooling is better than an air colling, which i preffer most of time. Also i'm sure you know there are many options for an open source (or freeware) OS. You can emulate almost anything you need on that, or even run windows on it in a VM. (You can pay the license if you want on it).
As i said, from my point, there's no need to waste on software if you have your needs solved already. It's always better to pay for hardware.
If you NEED, to go for windows, go to the cheapest license you can get. Most of time i find myself using unix based system with a modified kernel to manage server applications. So the cheapest Windows license should solve all your needs.

OK, yes. A Linux OS vs a Windows OS.
If the user needs Windows, for whatever reason, then do that. Either host or in a VM...the license costs the same.
If the needs are met with Linux, then do that for free.

He seems to want to use Windows, so then getting that would take precedence over a mediocre new cooling situation.

Then why just not wait longer to buy the cheapest windows license?
What will you get as an improve, by using licensed vs unlicensed version of windows?
And what will you get from using a new cooling system?
Just an easy compare. And maybe you don't know that you can use discontinued windows versions, not getting a license if you use it for test purpouses. When you use a VM, you can have the same position too. Think that this is not posible, there's no way to offer a free download to users for having a full copy of the system without the need to license it. Maybe you didn't know it. Unix based systems are not the only free OS available, as you may know, x86 and amd64 are not the only available architectures on a Computer world. So i suggest you to not have a short minded when talking about OS. Unix has an easier interface and it's compatible with x86 and amd64 architectures, which makes much easier and standardized way to go.

Also for a cooler solution at low price... I prefer to get a Noctua nh-d15

Not sure where you're going with this.
Want to use Windows? Buy it.
Want to use Linux? Do that, for free. If it meets the needs of the user.

Pretty sure running Windows in a VM, with a Linux (or other) host, was not on his radar. And you still need a license to do that.

But whatever....

He should buy it later. That's the way i see it. And if you don't use that OS as a daily driver, don't know why you should pay for a license. Of course there are many threads about piracy and those stuff that will come out from that branch, but while you don't use the system as your main interface, or you don't do something professional with your VM, you can use it as what it is, a trial / limited software.

First get a nice cooler which can enhance your performance, and make you feel the worth of any penny you pay. Later when you have the money pay for a home license of windows. If you want more, go ahead, but as i work building low budget pc with the best performance the people can pay (using repaired hardware, custom interfaces, etc), i must give those tips. If I have to take only one of those, i'd get the cooling system.

No, I'm 100% with USAFret on this one. The NZXT Kraken X61 is a waste of money - I know, I had one and wound up replacing it with a Cryorig. That isn't a tip either - a tip is buying an actual OS license which is a much wiser investment than using a pirated or modified one. Using that type of Windows will only get you into trouble. Doing the right thing and buying the actual copy of an OS won't.
