Last month, i helped my friend build his first gaming PC and it has worked until today when he told me that when he starts his PC the Case's power light doesn't come on nor does the screen, Last month i helped my friend build his first gaming PC and it has worked until today when he told me that when he starts his PC the Case's power light doesn't come on nor does the screen, but all the fans and other lights do come on (specs at the end). I noticed, through a Skype call, that there was a red LED on in the case that I didn't remember being there and after research we found out that it was the "EZ Debug light". I asked him to open the case and he was able to confirm that it was specifically the CPU light and that the RAM and VGA lights were off. I told him to check the CPU 8 pin and MB 24 pin connectors to make sure they were plugged in. He said they were plugged in on both the Mobo and PSU, though the 24 pin was very slightly loose in the PSU, and he pushed it back in. That did not fix the problem. I directed him on how to remove the fan and CPU and after that i told him to check to make sure that there are no damaged pins on the motherboard (intel). He reported nothing to look wrong and so i told him to plug the PSU back in and see if the light comes back on which it did; I'm not sure if this time the light was on because the CPU was absent or if that meant that there was a CPU problem with the chipset on the motherboard, but I determined there was nothing else i could do. What should the next thing we do be: call MSI? I find it very unlikely that the CPU is actually damaged, and I wasnt clearly able to see how well the 8 pin connector was in the Mobo but the pc has been working for about a month up until now.

I know that it wasn't the 1st bootup, i did read your wall of text.
The point what i was saying is that every PC component can fail at any given time even without any apparent reason. That's why components have warranties. If something happens during the warranty, you can replace it without any cost.

"EZ debug light - CPU" means that either MoBo can't find a CPU or CPU has failed.

If there is any warranty for CPU left, i suggest to return it to the store and get a replacement CPU. That should fix the problem.

You guys can try to put this CPU into another system and test if it would work there but i doubt it.

Keep in mind that even a brand new part can fail at 1st bootup.
