I expect to be using an i5 6500 unless anyone can convince me otherwise, and this system will be used for gaming in conjuction with a gtx 1060 and a samsung 850 evo 250gb SSD

I'm looking for minimum 4 sata connections
Probably a ddr4 capable board for future proofing but I already have 8gb of ddr3 ram around so if the cost to benefit is not worth it I am happy to get a ddr3 board. *I am now informed of DDR3L and now will go the ddr4 route since its less hastle.
A PCIe 3.0 connection
4 Ram slots
Don't care if it's limited to 2133mhz if its DDR4

I don't care about M.2 connectors, I don't care about additional OC capabilities like i've seen on some h170 boards that are trying to mimic Z boards, USB-C doesn't interest me.

Currently weighing up these boards:

Also whats the difference between a single 8Gb stick and a 8x2Gb kit. For the price of two single 8Gb sticks I save 10 dollars for the same brand and speed RAM, so what gives?

Solution
I would buy the 2nd board listed and for the memory you get about a 5% performance increase in memory intensive tasks using the dual channel memory that the board offers (2 Sticks)
If your using 2 sticks of memory buy them in a single set of 2 sticks their tested to work together.

Is there any particular reason that the gigabyte stands out to you?

I went and analysed all 3 b150 boards and did quite a bit of research. For a better insight into my thoughts, I do not intend to run this PC longer than 3 years, so I'm not worried about future proofing.

On the gigabyte board I do not see myself using m.2, sata express or both pcie 3.0 slots within my builds expected life.

On the ASRock board I can't see myself using both pcie 3.0 lanes and the asus has other features in its place.

The Asus board has 1 less PCI-e 3.0 slot but in its place is a usb C connector and alot of usb 3.0 connections. Will I make use of these? probably not but there is a greater likelihood of me using these features than the features of the other boards.
