After my harddrive failed, I was forced to install a new harddrive and reinstall Windows 7. Nothing in my system had changed except the replacement harddrive.

Now, when I boot up, Windows does not detect my Nvidia 660ti GPU in the PCI-e slot. It finds my second graphics card, an old 8500GT and a "standard VGA graphics adapter".

My monitor is plugged into the 660ti. I have removed and reseated the card with no luck. I have downloaded and installed the driver I had been using prior to my HDD malfunction, which is the last version that applies to both the 8500GT and the 660ti. (341.96). The driver was installed, however, I cannot access the Nvidia Control Panel via a right click on the desktop where it was commonly found in the menu. Nividia Control Panel can be found in the Windows Control Panel > Hardware and Sound, but does nothing. Opening does nothing.

Can anyone help?

Thank you Ancient for your advice. I tried as you had suggested, but still no joy. The computer does not even recognize the Nvidia 660ti as being anything but a standard vga graphics adapter/ If I go into it's properties and try to "update driver" (hoping to direct it to the Nvidia drivers), its says Windows has determined the driver is up to date.

After I ran DDU, Windows 7 rebooted, and the 850GT and standard vga graphics adapter were reinstalled automatically. The 660ti wasn't detected as a 660ti. I reisntalled the driver package (recommended option which fills machine with stuff irrelevant to what I need), restarted, and no difference.
