Lag on computer fix?

Right, now i know this is nothing to moan about as it is sorted now but here goes. My computer has these specs: A8-5600k APU, ASUS 750ti 2gb GDDR5, HyperX Fury 2x 4Gb 1866Mhz and an asrock fm2a75m-dgs Mobo. which i thought were pretty decent for games but today all it has done is lagged, i've updated drivers and everything to see if it works any better but it didn't, i even re-seated the ram and switched ram slots but still it wouldn't play games smooth. So after just casually using my computer for a while (youtube, spotify etc.) i decided to test it out again and now all of a sudden all the games are running at well over 60fps. i even tested skyrim (default graphics high) and even this was pulling 60-70fps. does anyone know what happened?

I'm not too sure about the temperatures but i can't imagine they would be much different as they were in the same condition. Also all other programs were closed.
