4gb ddr2 vs 6gb ddr3?

how much of a benefit would the 6gb ddr3 make in system running an e5700 processor and a GT640?

More ram+faster ram= better ram.If your mobo supports ddr3 then go for it.

What model is your motherboard? Unless it's one of those few boards made in the transition phase between DDR2 and 3 with both types of slots, the upgrade is not possible.

I actually have both, i kinda get free older PC parts so i try to build and sell rigs. the DDR2 mobo is MUCH nicer, but only 4gb, the DDR3 rig has a crappy mobo but more 6gb. Just trying to figure out prioritization between them
