I turned my computer on today and the temperature went up to around 90 degrees celsius after minutes of usage. I was not playing any games, just surfing the web and doing homework. Only had Spotify and Google Chrome open.

I know that these tasks are not demanding and therefore should not cause the temperature to be high. I checked my CPU cooler and it was turned on with the fans going at full speeds (does not usually happen either). Even when I played games like GTA V the temperature was never that high or the fans never were at full speed.

My build is:
CPU: Intel i5 6600k
CPU Fan: Corsair H100i v2
MOBO: Asus Z170A
RAM: G.Skill Ripjaws 8Gb
Samsung 850 EVO SSD

If I were you, Id probably try reseating the cooler and changing the thermal paste.
If the reseating doesn't work, the pump might have died on you.
I've had the same problem with my old AIO cooler, where the temps suddenly started to sky rocket when it was idling, or doing some lightweight tasking. And the cause was the pump.
