GPU Cable Insulation Tore Off. Safe?

While I was trying to put on my side panel, I noticed that the GPU power cables were touching it and bulging out, so I tried to use a little bit of force and managed to get it closed in, which is what I always do. This time, however, a bit of the cable's insulation tore off (just a very small amount), and I can see a little bit of the cable. Is this safe or do I have to urgently get it replaced? I'm 16 and right now my family's kind of financially deprived so if I came to my mom asking for replacements she wouldn't be too happy. I'm planning to bring the PC with me to college so are there any risks of having a little hole in the cable? Thanks.

If it's a ground cable (black ones, usually), then it should be fine. If it's one of the positive/transport cables, then you have to wrap it with isolating tape ("Electrical Isolation Tape"; google for that). An exposed wire is all kinds of hazard. If you get an arch going, death by fire is the least of your worries.

The amount of current (electricity power) the GPU cables transport can kill a human being, so keep that in mind.

No matter how bad the economical situation is, either losing the whole PC or yourself is worse than spending a few greens on isolating tape, right? Plus, it's not that expensive, luckily. You can use it for future projects as well.

Cheers!

I'm sure everything is fine, so no need to worry. As long as there are none of the metal wires inside the cables showing then you'll be fine. And if there is, you could get a small amount of electrical tape just to cover it, then you'll be fine.

Why did I not think of using electrical tape? Duh.
