Now this is my new PC, all is new except the HDD which is a really old hdd i salvaged from an external drive to use temporiraly, Now I did the userbenchmark test and I'm afraid the CPU is faulty, is there a bench that's only affected by the CPU/not affected by HDD I can use to check my CPU is ok? results: http://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/1674321

You won't get fast boot...

The problem is that it's the site that compares and said I was below expectations, here's the cinebench result (868)

What does it sound like?

Sidenote; would getting a real 7200 rpm hdd affect cpu performance (like this bench) or not? I know for a fact it will affect boot time cause at the moment to have all my startup programs loaded it's a ridiculous 4-5 minute.

All your startup programs? How many do you have? Having lot of resources wasted with stuff running in the background will surely bring down CPU performance for other tasks.

Btw, my Cinebench CPU score with the i7-4790K at stock clocks is 843. So yours looks good to me.

Avast, Steam, chrome, nvidia cp thingy, adobe updater thingy, evernote, dropbox, maybe some intel stuff idk

I'm sure what's keeping me back from booting is the hdd which I plan to get a barracuda by next week cause we have holidays here.

But I posted this because I'm worried as this is my first PC (Prev. Laptop user) and I want to make sure the CPU is fine, is this enough of an indicator it's fine?t hanks.

One thing you may want to adjust in the BIOS / UEFI is to sync all your cores. Usually by default, Intel will use the maximum core clock speed for say 1 or 2 threads, but as the thread count goes up, it lowers the core clock. If you sync them all to the maximum multiplier, then it should run at the full 4.3GHz right up to 8 threads (4 cores Hyperthreaded).

I'm still in need of a definitive answer guys, how can I verify that my cpu is alright and how much of a difference would I expect after changing the hdd? I want atleast 20X better cause this build which I expected to be godly Is really awful, about 8 minutes to be able to use it and anything besides gaming is slow af.

You could download 3DMark FireStrike and compare you physics score (CPU benchmark) to other people who have the same CPU, 3DMark's website is great for comparing results and seeing how well your system is performing.
Sounds like it is most likely HDD to me, switching from an HDD to SSD on my gaming rig was complete night and day difference, everything is so much faster with an SSD. Boot time, loading games/maps/programs, copying files...etc.

Unfortunately I can only get a Seagate barracuda cause of budget atm, but I have an i7-6700k and a gtx 1070 so I was expecting those 30 second boot times but this 8 minute shit is worse than my laptop, I just want to make sure it's just the hdd and nothing else.

I don't really want to spend 30 bucks to test this, you could take a look at my cinebench and userbenchmarks scores and tell me what you think I posted them earlier, I guess since my pc is showing as 4 ghz in bios its fine?

I'm pretty sure the slow bootup is because of all the stuff you have pre-loading when Win starts. Try disabling most of them, and run them only on an as-need basis. Nvidia's latest version of their CP takes a long time to load up for some reason. It didn't use to be like that.

But your CPU seems to be performing normal. Like mentioned above, try Firestrike. Lots of users her use that. They/we can compare with you. But the gfx card you have will affect that score too.

Yes your CPU looks fine in CineBench. However you might see a little more multithreaded performance if you Sync your cores in the BIOS. This will keep your multiplier at 42 even when all the cores are in use.

As for a slow boot up, that is a complicated process to troubleshoot. We don't know all the non-MicroSoft applications that you have starting with Windows. Eight minutes seems a little extreme even for booting from a HDD. I would say it would be normal to take a minute to a minute and a half to boot once the POST screen has passed on a cold boot. Many things can cause slow booting, including something off in the networking stack.

That all said, if you want a drastic difference in boot speeds, you should consider getting a small (120GB) SSD to put your OS on. This will have your drop your boot speed into the seconds range.

One other thing as to boot time... do you have a network drive that the PC is looking for at boot? Sometimes that will add considerable time to the boot operation. My old Buffalo NAS adds at least 30-40 seconds to the boot time if I have it mapped to log on at boot.

You won't get fast boot times unless you have a pretty clean system and you are using a solid state drive. "old hard drive" is often a bit cause of slowness.

I don't know why you are checking the CPU, in the first userbenchmark you linked the very fist line is "Overall this PC is performing as expected ". Why would you think the CPU is having issues? The only thing in red is your hard drive, so look at replacing that, not look for issues where none exist.
