My computer has decided to begin randomly restarting. I'm not entirely sure why or what the problem is. I've been reading forum posts about the problem but its such a vague and non-specific issue that there are so many instances of it, I cannot determine what the right course of action should be.

The PC only restarts as far as I can tell while playing games. Sometimes it doesn't happen for days then it might happen 5 times in a row. When it restarts the PC doesn't turn off, the screen just goes straight to black and then Windows boots up again. I've changed out my RAM (from 8GB to 16 GB) and that didn't stop it. My PSU is 1150w and as far as I can tell it doesnt seem to be a power issue as the PC doesn't actually turn off when it happens.

I'm pretty lost here and the more it happens the more worried I am. I don't want the constant restarts to mess up other components of the PC and I'm sure its a hardware issue but I don't know what?

Heyo SlappytheDingul

You might have heard it before, but have you cleaned out your PC? dusting everything out, reseating CPU and putting on new thermal compound?
To me it 'could' sound like a overheating problem.
How long are the gaming sessions?
If possible, it would be helpful to get some temperatures while you're gaming. If you don't already use it, you can download HWmonitor for this.

Yeah I've bought some duster recently and cleaned it out pretty well. I haven't tried reseating the CPU though, and I don't think its an overheating issue. I'll monitor my temps when I get home from work but from what I can tell/feel it doesn't seem like a problem. I have 6 fans running, including my CPU fan (not stock)

My gaming sessions can last from an hour or so to all day on weekends, but the length never seems to trigger it. Sometimes it wont happen at all and then it may happen after only 30 min of playing.
