Hi everybody, I've got an Asus M5A99FX EVO R2.0 motherboard, with 8gb of ddr3 ram, I'm looking into 16gb of ddr4 ram, but I don't know (give me a break here, I know this is a stupid question, and I should know the answer, but I can't remember, don't judge) if I need to change motherboards or not to install the new ram,

You cannot use DDR4 RAM in that Motherboard. You would need a new Intel based motherboard to use it (and new processor as well).

Depending on your goals, upgrading to 16gb DDR3 may be just fine for you.
