Both in games and 3D modeling extra CPU cores are not useful. Getting stronger GPU possible is useful both in gaming and 3D modeling.

King Dranzer, the C7 is for low-profile cases - you must have added it by accident.

Here's my suggestion:

What you have there seems OK, but what kind of 3D modeling are you intending to do (E.g. ZBrush multimillion poly sculptures with low res mesh or some other thing)? Your system for that will benefit most from the graphics card, the cores and RAM, all of which you seem to have nailed. I wouldn't worry about your build so much, but most people doing 3D modeling as their job don't question their build requirements. If you're just messing around with 3D modeling, then I would say you're overdoing it a bit on the cost.

This is a old post. But yes if OP can increase his budget it would be great

This build will nearly perform 25% better than the above builds we provided for the work OP wants to do.

You have no business giving advice on this matter if you think extra cores aren't useful for 3D modeling and animation.. The rendering buckets alone are driven by the number of cores you have in play. Anyone with a moderate degree of experience with 3D modeling and animation knows this. Don't get me wrong, clock speed matters, too, but you can't ignore the effectiveness in cores. I'll put a 3.2 Ghz 8 core CPU against any 1 core 5 Ghz processor any day in this matter. In addition it also depends on the apps you're using.
