Hey i was wondering if there are any upgrades or enhancements on current hardware such as overclocking to improve my pc's performance in games, especially csgo. Looking to keep a fps constantly above 144 frames for my 144hz monitor. As of now i was thinking of upgrading to a SSD, Better PSU and maybe 2 case fans (one for intake, one for output). I also have the option to create a new build entirely but with it being my final year of school and all i was wanting to hold off on that for another year. Just looking for possible upgrades that won't cost me a fortune under ($300aud preferably, can possibly go a bit higher)

Current Build:
CPU: AMD fx-8320 3.5ghz
Motherboard: Asus m5a78l-m lxv2
GPU: Radeon HD-7850 2gb
RAM: 2x 8GB G.Skill Ripjaw
CPU Cooler: Hyper TX3 Evo
PSU: Widetech 550W Silent PSU
Hard-Drive: Seagate Barracuda 2TB

Yeah, not a whole lot new-build-wise you can do on that budget.

With your current build, an SSD will help with overall system speed, but primarily on loading Windows & apps, & won't affect your FPS.

Case fans are always good to help keep things cool, & are fairly cheap.

PSU-wise, as long as you're not having any problems I would only get a new one if a) you plan to OC the system, & b) you plan on adding a super-high-end GPU (which you don't need for 1080p gaming). If you decide to do that down the road, consider at least a Tier 3, preferably a Tier 2 or Tier 1 supply (http://www.tomshardware.com/forum/id-2547993/psu-tier-list.html).

GPU-wise, this is your best bet. If you want to stick around the $300AUD limit, I would consider...

I think your ideas are spot on. An SSD would be a great addition, although it will not have an impact on FPS. And, a better PSU will provide stable power to your components and allow you to run a good OC on your CPU.

If you can find a good deal on a GPU that would be a nice upgrade as well. Used deals on a GTX970 might be a good idea, if you do not mind buying used.

EDIT: I just checked ebay.com.au and pricing is crazy! Sigh.

They'd be well within your budget, & a nice 4-tier improvement for your GPU (http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/gpu-hierarchy,4388.html).
