Help! All my programs and files disappeared from my computer

From where I know, I resumed the window after hibernated it and played a VBA game with no any other programs running at the back. But after I closed the game, the programs and files at the desktop is not arranged like it was before. I was in a rush that time so I just shut it down.
But the next day when I open it, the desktop is all black and all the programs and files are gone. I searched them everywhere but can't seem to find them. And I am sure that they are not hidden.
Please help me if there is any solution to this.

QUESTION....

The missing stuff were just shortcuts or folders on the desktop? Was that all that was missing?? What about stuff located off from the desktop?? Was a shortcut cleanup run?

Try this... create an empty folder on the desktop... then go to the PROPERTIES of that folder you just created and then GO TO TARGET... or the save location for that folder... then go up ONE LEVEL... Do you see any of the stuff you had on your desktop there??

Very odd. Can you check the event logs to see if theres anything from when it happened?

They included shortcuts, folders, files and programs. And well, actually, you can say all the folders and files in C:/ disappeared, but all in D:/ is still there though.
And i dont see my stuff.

Yup, I have searched them but cant find them at all. I searched 'Installed Programs' and saw the programs there but it says 'it may have already been uninstalled'.

restart the computer in "safe mode with networking"...downlaod/install and run malwarebytes...
pls report the findings...

Yeah do a safe mode malware scan and a Windows troubleshoot from Security & Maintenance and go from there.

I restarted it in safe mode and did the scanning. But it says no viruses, spyware, and other potentially unwanted software were detected.
