Hello,

I was wondering if anyone could answer my question.

Current specs
CPU 4930K @3.4 (no overclock).
GPU 1 Sapphire 290 Vapor-x (factory overclocked)
GPU 2 Sapphire 290 Tri-x (factory overclocked)
RAM 24GB (6x4GB)
HDD 1xSSD 2x7200 RPM (storage)
FANS 6 case fans

PSU Corsair HX1000i.

Now I have a friend who is wiling to sell me a Gigabyte 390X G1 Gaming OC Version card at a great price.

All the research I have done online is leading toward my PSU being borderline? I would like to know if anyone thinks I will be okay with current PSU? (I recently purchased it and do not want to purchase another).

Pretty much if I can make do I will get the other card if not then I will let the deal get away.

On a side note, does anyone think that I will see any performance increases with the additional card? (Kind of relying on DX12 for total VRAM eventually).

Thanks for all the help in advance.

Solution
I dont think it would be worth it, scaling past two cards isnt great. I would be tempted to sell your two cards and go for 1080, which you can SLI later if needed. A single 1080 outperforms Crossfire 290s on its own.

Thanks,

I did some reading on GPU scaling and you are right it won't be worth the upgrade.

The 1080 is a great card, and maybe one day I will look into a whole new set up, the problem I have is that in New Zealand, parts are quite expensive.

1080 can go for as high as $1499, where a brand new 390x would set you back around $550. Friend was selling an unopened one for $285.

Anyway thanks!
