Hello guys !

Im using Athlon 860k and right now i have some issues with it. The temperatures are getting high like 80 85 degrees (Today my new cooler for my old pc just arrived - Thermalright TRUE Spirit 120M BW Rev. A ) , with my stock it used to get to 105-8 degrees. What can i do about that ? Not gonna overclock it, not needed. Soo any suggestions ? The temperature above is with 1300 RPM cooler. I would like to put this as low as possible due to not being able to use big big cooler on Micro ATX. I disabled to auto overclock from the UEFI, put the cooler to Full Speed mode. Lowered the voltage to 1.331 from 1.385. Seems to be able to run some of the games which my brother usually plays without crashing, but i dont know what else to do, i mean i believe such high temperature is not good. My new pc has 57 max temp with Evo 212

I did some research on that CPU. I cannot find a max operating temp that is consistent though. However this is very high if its on idle. What thermal paste did you use and how did you apply it. Also how much did you apply?

@Valiera
I applied enough to cover the whole processor without going out of the top of it. I used the one which Cooler Master provided me from the Evo 212 when i bought it, using the same on my new pc. The idle is around 60 and it gets high at 85 when Fifa 14 is running

@Faux_Grey
Yes, im using the same termal paste whch i use on my new pc, i applied as much as i did on it. The cooler is mounted according to the Installation Instructions provided by the company. And i use HWMonitor to check the temperatures. Before i boot the windows when i check the temperature from the UEFI its around 50.

Did you do a dot and spread it or did you do a line? My old Evo kept my 6600k cool at 45 on idle and about 75 on load. Granted that That's an Intel CPU and not AMD which tend to run a little hotter. You might have applied too much paste though unlikely. Try to apply a dot about the size of a pea to the center and then apply the cooler allowing the pressure to spread the paste. Test it and see if anything is improved. 85 is not that high on an older AMD under load I don't think. Id be worried if it was 90-108 though.

@Valiera I applied it the way you suggest, not a line and crosses and other arts :D

@Aeacus The space in the case doesnt really seem that much. The cooler is kind of close to the fan at the back of the case. Perhaps i should try with open case ?

Which way your CPU cooler fan is mounted?
Facing downwards and drawing air from the bottom of the case?

Here's a pic of your case for refrence:

Your airflow inside the case is good. Nothing wrong there.
But do you have enough space outside your case? Especially at the rear.
And when was the last time you cleared the dust from inside your case?

It has enough from every side, like there is nothing around the pc but air. And i never cleared the dust from inside, the case has filters which keeps it quite clean inside, not even the GPU has a dust on it, tho i clean the filters like twice per week, they can easly be cleaned with just bare hands.

Looks like im not the only one with extremely high temps on that processor. Anyway, thank you for the help guys, i really appreciate it! ~80 seems to be normal for these kind of processors even though its quite high. Probably gonna leave it like that for the rest of its life :D There seems to be nothing more to be done in order to decrease the temp.
