Hello
i was looking to buy the MSI GeForce GTX 1060 Gaming X 6GB Video Card and realised that most of my parts are out of date as they are reaching the 5 year mark.
i am currently using the amd phenom(tm) ii x4 955 processor 3.20 ghz and the GIGABYTE GA-880GM-USB3 AM3+ AMD 880G USB 3.0 HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard
which parts would i have to replace to get optimal performance with the 1060?
would really appreciate the help as i am still a bit new to building comps.

Solution
that really depend on your budget mate
an i7-6700k+Z170 board offers the best performance but you know..costs 500+$
the i5-6500 usually provides best value, if money is tight an i3-6300
depends on your other components.
upgrading to an i5 or an i3 even would improve performance significantly.
along with a new mainboard and possibly new RAM - if you got plenty of quality DDR3 RAM right now, going for a build that supports DDR3 RAM might not be the worst decision, other wise new RAM

depending on your PSU it might be worth replacing as well by now

storage + case should be fine :D

The best place to upgrade will be cpu/mobo and RAM in some cases. I would recommend going to i5 6500/H170 board/16gb DDR4 or if you like to overclock i5 6600k/Z170/16gb DDR4. Both setups I listed will work great with the 1060.
